I feel like time or period where you introduce it is a big contributor for the appeal.

Some people say consuming media in a certain way is inauthentic too, but I think even Lynch eased up on that a BIT. (anime, on a FUCKING phone) I'd never brag about eating gas station sushi, but I might if i wet to a restaurant in Japan. The Intent behind one is magnitudes more sincere.

People using ink and pen, or a specific camera from 2003 aren't going that extra mile because they want validation, they're doing it because it excites the part of their mind that goes "you did it!". As long as YOU'RE happy with it, that's what counts. It's about taking pride in your effort.
