Ah.

December 24, 2025 at 9:04 PM
C’est quoi SNSV ?
December 24, 2025 at 9:02 PM

I’ve heard good things too, but never tried it :-) it’s supposed to be the go to distro when you are seeking for a clean UX, not too far from Windows.

I wonder how much Steam OS is usable outside of gaming. Afterall, it’s just another Arch based distribution :-)
December 21, 2025 at 5:43 PM
I feel you :-) that’s exactly the reasons I moved out of Linux to macOS 10 years ago.

I’m a programmer, so config files and terminal is ok for me. But I can understand it’s not to the taste of everyone. I would recommend to try PopOS then, it’s more GUI based.

Alalala l’ironie a l’écris, toujours périlleux comme exercice ^^’

And the last but not least thing : the Arch wiki is incredibly useful and complete!

Note that it is also useful for other Linux distribution, most of it not being entirely tight to Arch only
December 21, 2025 at 2:51 PM
But it’s so refreshing to have a system without everything lagging behind of latest of at least 1 ou 2 versions!

For a day to day desktop usage, it’s amazing :-)

I would keep Debian for server usage where stabaility is way preferable over cutting edge latest version of everything
December 21, 2025 at 2:48 PM
It’s my first year in the Arch world too :-)
I used to be a Debian guy too, on Mint most of the time.

While Arch have a bad reputation in terms of stability, but it seems to have massively improved! I have an update that fails from time to time. I just revert to snapshot and wait for a week :-)

Is your experience of gaming on Windows that smooth ? Because we always say that « it’s easier on windows », but now that I’ve done the switch, I would not be that sure about it.

Proton/Wine doing all the compatibility work, with each game having its own fresh windows install, is very effective
December 21, 2025 at 10:20 AM
Most dittos does the trick for gaming now with the work done by Valve on Steam and Proton/Wine.

I personally use Omarchy :-) Arch, but all setup for your and very friendly for beginners.

One of my preferred feature : out of the box system snapshot before updates. Makes update fearless :-)

It’s not the people that needs to be fixed, it’s power structures and the way our modern societies are organized.

I think people are not inherently « good or bad », they just act in response to the context.
December 18, 2025 at 1:38 PM
It’s not fatalistic. It’s an observation of how it is, i don’t say it’s something that can’t be changed.

And yes, people can show love and tenderness. And that’s what I say : it’s not a problem of individuals, but a problem of society structure.
December 18, 2025 at 1:36 PM
I do think that people are highly influenced by their environment.

They act like assholes because they live in a society that pushes them to this behavior. Everything in our modern era is made to make you think as a selfish and shortsighted person.

Difficult to go against the way the world is
December 18, 2025 at 1:25 PM
Be reassured, they are not talking about generative AI like LLM (ChatGPT and others). This is a more traditional machine learning algorithm, it’s an improvement over the AI techniques that are used since decades in science :-)

AI is a very large field of computer science, LLMs is only a type of it
December 18, 2025 at 7:24 AM
December 17, 2025 at 4:48 PM

December 17, 2025 at 4:46 PM

December 17, 2025 at 4:25 PM
December 17, 2025 at 4:24 PM
Oui aujourd’hui.

December 17, 2025 at 10:33 AM

December 17, 2025 at 9:09 AM
