I’m more afraid of my raid leader yelling at me for fucking up the excess mass mechanic on Dimensious than I am of any of the protestors:
valentineirl.bsky.social
I’ve lived in Portland for almost 15 years and this is by far the tamest protest I’ve yet seen.
valentineirl.bsky.social
This is basically “there is no war in Ba Sing Sey” in reverse.
valentineirl.bsky.social
You are seeing, in real time, a propaganda machine in action trying to suppress citizens rights to protest. The rhetoric coming from the White House is intentionally inflammatory and not describing the reality of what’s happening.
valentineirl.bsky.social
I live in Portland and I don’t feel unsafe, there is no war zone here, life is as normal. Protests all exist within a single city block that doesn’t affect me at all. Protestors are all in plainclothes or dumb cosplay, peaceful and unobstructive to anyone other than ICE

the right are always trying to redefine feminism as whatever bullshit it is they’re currently trying to sell.

Only a human could come up with a take this bad though
The most radical act of feminism? Using AI
Women are far less likely to use AI tools like ChatGPT than men. But the tech is here to stay — and the disparity risks widening workplace inequalities

And of course there will be a section of people who decide that its got to have some health benefit. And likely some of those people will be platformed to say so on Fox news.

A law of D&D that no one tells you. As a GM you will invariably create a character you mean to be helpful to the party that you love dearly, but one that the players will determine is their arch-enemy. You have to be willing to buy into the player's hatred because they won't change their mind.

Video games have a serious crediting problem, but unions can help

"Being properly credited on a title is essential to our individual careers as workers, and also just general fairness. Being able to say, 'Hey, I worked on this,' is important to show the work you did and not undercut labor."

How are unions working to fix the industry's issue with credits?

So weird to me that I’m on MTG and you’re on WoW right now lol.

Which means, since the player object is a networkobject, we cannot nest a weapon socket networkobject within its heirarchy. I don't really want to build an entire script to align the gun with the weapon socket, I'd just love to be able to correctly set its parent.
valentineirl.bsky.social
The serverrpc cant effectively reparent the weapon, it correctly spawns it at the socket's location but doesnt set its parent. I worked through the code and found that the parent needs to be a networkobject for it to work, but unfortunately, netcode doesnt support spawning nested networkobjects.
valentineirl.bsky.social
Anyway, in case anyone can help. We have a player object with a skeleton, we placed a weapon socket object on the rig's hands and want to place weapons in there. Without netcode its as easy as instantiating with a parent. But in netcode we do a serverrpc to try to spawn the weapon.

Trying to do a thing with Unity Netcode and my exact problem has been described on 4 different threads. On every thread an insufferable dude hops on (same guy) and is like "just dont do that, reimplement built in unity logic yourself" and I just dont understand why hes so insistent on being an ass

So I never really caught "Girls" when it was in the zeitgeist. But I'm watching it now and really loving it. I think that Shosha, despite her flaws, is my favorite character in the show, followed by Hannah. I get annoyed that Marnie is constantly accusing Hannah of being what she herself is.

Absolutely correct. Our game would be nowhere near as good without the excellent voice cast and their performances.
jon.inkle.co
The reality of the market right now is you’ve got to spend less while also being better; and in terms of result for cost voice actors are a steal — they are, in general, very very good and given the right design it can pretty efficient to load a huge amount of joyous speech into a game

Our next game will have more actors, doing more acting, than we’ve ever worked with before, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Its 2034 and WoW Classic, due to its rate of release, has reached where WoW Live is. What happens now? Wrong answers only.

Anyway Louis is also obviously sick of the heteros, that final form goes crazy.
valentineirl.bsky.social
Anyway, sorry girls, I'm in a quad with Stohl, Edeni, and Basilio.

I heard Metaphor ReFantazio had no romance in it, I was excited to not be pressured into heteronormativity. Twas a bait and switch unfortunately, at the end two of the women basically throw themselves at you with no way for you to reject them, so fucking fun. Either give me gay or opt me out.

I'd be really interested to see how much that drops the median worker pay.
valentineirl.bsky.social
Worth noting, I know a lot of gamedevs who work for Microsoft, and all of them are below this "Average worker compensation." 194k is director-level pay, most gamedevs fall well short of this, 40-160k is the general range for most IC gamedevs.

I made a new TALL CHART, this time comparing compensation for Microsoft's CEO and its average worker

The social version here shows the short chart

To show fluctuations in both lines, I needed to make a chart that was 20,000 pixels tall. Click to see (and scroll)

You might notice I basically never comment on another game that I wasn’t part of unless I’m praising the game in some way. That’s very much intentional.
