They live in the same hope that music can generate large revenues on its own — but this hope is equally shattered for live artists and algorithms.

As a result, most of these people will leave music as quickly as they came when they realize that AI does not eliminate the market, competition, and economics of the industry.

The same release costs, the same expensive advertising, the same meager income from streaming — only without personal involvement and without a unique sound.

It seems that now you don't need any skills or years of practice — all you need to do is generate a track and upload it to platforms. But reality catches up very quickly.

A separate illusion today is associated with AI music. For those who don't want to or don't know how to produce, but simply want to “try to make money from music,” neural networks seem like a shortcut to money.

And the main problem is that even this chance cannot be measured or guaranteed. You invest money not for profit, but for the hope that it was not in vain.

In essence, advertising a music release is not an investment, but a blind bet. You're not buying a result, you're buying a chance: a chance that algorithms will notice the track, a chance that someone will add it to their playlist, a chance that it won't disappear in the endless stream of new music.

Here, it is considered normal to spend €100 and get €5–10 back from streaming in a few months — and be happy that something came back at all.
January 4, 2026 at 11:31 AM
From a classic marketing perspective, such advertising simply does not make sense: if the investment does not pay off, then the campaign has failed. But in the music industry, this “rule” does not work.
January 4, 2026 at 11:31 AM
Advertising a release is a separate pain point. Premieres, playlist curators, reviews on websites, targeting on social media — even the most modest launch starts at around €100. And at the same time, the return on investment is almost zero.

Today, music itself hardly generates any income. Money comes not from releases, but from concerts, merchandise, and everything else related to music.

I just don't watch YouTube, but millions of people do, and there's nothing you can do about it. Most people just consume this content without thinking, probably just to distract themselves.

Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Your video is new to more than a million YouTube users, but YouTube just doesn't know who to recommend it to. 👀

This will certainly increase the number of plays.

You should better format your YouTube mixes. GPT chats are now available. Just write to them: text for video design, DJ set, techno music, podcast for YouTube with tags

Therefore, everyone who listens to streaming music should simply stop listening to short tracks. Don't play them at all. This will eventually force artists to make longer and more diverse tracks.
