The FBU are calling for immediate investment in the fire service and 5,000 new firefighters.

Response times are 3.5 minutes slower than in the 1990s. Fire deaths have risen by up to 21%. This is the result of cuts to firefighters, fire engines and stations.

Cuts kill. Let's prevent it.

Emergency Fire Control staff are highly trained and truly the frontline of the frontline. Cornwall faces increasing flood risk, yet flood response isn’t a statutory duty and has no dedicated funding. Government must act—make it statutory and fund it properly. 🔥 INVEST NOW🔥
Storm Bram brought 90mph winds and over 300 flood warnings across the UK this week.

Firefighters carried out rescues, but England's fire services have no statutory duty to respond to floods. No duty means no funding.

The South West has been hit particularly hard by wildfires this year. At Holt Heath, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service required support from 17 brigades from across the country to deal with the fire.
Our fire services are stretched more than ever. They need investment, not further cuts.
Since January, wildfires have burned an estimated 47,026 hectares of land - more than double the area burned in the record breaking 2022 summer wildfires.

Yet modelling from the NFCC shows £102m in potential cuts to the fire service still to come.

Mid and West Wales FRS leadership continue to sideline staff by:
❌ Imposing shift changes without negotiation
❌ Failing to address how they'll make changes following the culture review
❌ Pushing forward with the CRMP 2040 review—giving themselves a blank check for whatever changes
