Much appreciated. And yes like I love Tom Robbins stuff and it probably falls into that category but I'm not educated enough (though I want to be and need to do more self education) on the genre. I feel like so many books I LOVE miss readers bc of how they get labeled.

YES! And I know I feel like I'm not comfortable using magical realism for a lot of books that get labeled that? I almost always default to speculative fiction as that encompasses it seems most of my favorite stuff but it doesn't seem to be apt either. TY for sharing in the hunt you're invaluable!

Also I have asked this before I think but what is a word to describe a book like---The Antidote (Karen Russell) where in store it's coded as fiction but like the general fiction reader won't pick it up bc its too weird and fantasy readers won't bc it's not fantasy enough and ugh sometimes
