"This entire event has cemented my desire to stick with the law, and indeed with BVL, not to mention honing my interests towards the Bar route."

"The unique set-up of this competition has enabled me to develop a fluency with difficult legal problems that an A-Level student typically would not have the chance to explore until University - for this I am extremely grateful."

Devanshi kindly sent us some feedback after the event, which she agreed to us sharing:

"I feel deeply privileged to be the winner of this competition, and I hope this event is able to continue and possibly even expand through future years."

Last month social mobility charity, BVL held its 2025 Mooting Competition final at the UK Supreme Court.

A huge thank you to Lord Stephens for judging and the UK Supreme Court for supporting this competition for the 12th year in a row.

Doughty Street Chambers' support of BVL will enable us to continue our work focusing on improving social mobility in the legal profession and will help us to reach more students based outside of London.

This is a fantastic project. We were so impressed by the students' hard work and dedication, and some of them spoke with such confidence and aplomb - definitely future KC or MP material! Proud to support.

Finally, with thanks to @iclr.bsky.social for kindly partnering with us & publishing the report, I'm pleased to say that you can now read it online here: www.bvl.org.uk/publications. It's full of the students' brilliant ideas on Reproductive Rights, Sports Law, Electoral Law and Protest Law (10/10)

2025 has the potential to be another great year for the charity. We've got a great team & big plans. There is so much we want to do, e.g. we received 500+ applications for the Model Law Commission in 2024, so it would be amazing to offer more places this yr. But funding is key (8/10)
vandersonmccann.bsky.social
Of course, we also couldn't do it without the help of an amazing team of volunteers (the whole charity is volunteer led!), guest speakers, and again in 2024 - for the 8th yr in a row - we had artist, Isobel Williams & graphic designer, Peter Sloper, designing the cover of the report (7/10)

This project doesn't happen by magic. In 2024 we were lucky to have the support of BCL Solicitors. BVL was their charity of the yr & that support enabled us to lift the cap we had in place on the no. of students who could take part from outside of London (due to travel+accommodation costs) (6/10)
