As both a driver/dispatcher for an Amazon DSP and a web developer, it’s been very interesting to witness how the AWS outage has affected Amazon Logistics.

Love how after going through the PowerShell trenches, power cycling my desktop is what fixed its network connectivity >_<*

I’ll be doing a lot more flight simming now that I have FsHub set up; the daily flight challenges are quite engaging.

I have a bit of a tradition: eating a pint of ice cream alongside my first listen of a new Taylor Swift album. For The Life of a Showgirl, I’m having a lemon lavender pint from a local shop.

I just sold my 40-series graphics card for more than I bought it for a few months ago. The GPU market is so dumb lol

Two Guys Talking About Lettuce is quickly becoming my favorite podcast! Lettuce is really quite interesting 😭

It took me four hours to enable hardware encryption via BitLocker on my new Samsung M.2 drives. I got these drives specifically for their hardware encryption capabilities — so I was determined to get it working — but at least some documentation would’ve been nice!

Over the last six months or so I’ve had my temperature settings set to celsius with the intent of developing an intuition and a possible preference for it.

Realizing that—after all this time—I still don’t have a good feel for celsi... https://microblog.vandor.sx/2025/08/15/over-the-last-six-months/

With Thomas Dohmke resigning as GitHub CEO, the Pragmatic Engineer episode I finally got around to listening to last week seems nullified :c

At last, I’ve acquired the Sony α7CR with the FE 24-50mm ƒ/2.8 G lens!!!!!!!

Yesterday—after a frustrating experience with FedEx—I got my camera set up, updated the firmware, etc. Today, I had some time to go on a walk and actually... https://vandor.sx/microblog/2025/8/9/5516391

Fun fact: my domain is technically in the Chromium source code.

(I just discovered the HSTS preload list is simply a very long JSON file that gets bulk updated about once a month)

📷 I love delivering to this house; I park right in front of these lush arches and step directly into a beautiful garden.

I somehow only now noticed my car has small kilometer-per-hour markings on the speedometer gauge.

Helpful for if I ever drive up to Canada, which I’d like to do someday (it’s only a day’s drive)!

Google deactivated my account that had the 15-month student trial of Gemini Pro — and I’m a bit bitter about that :p

📷 I’ve been curious about the view from the skywalk of this building, and the other day I got the opportunity to check it out! Though I must admit, it looks more impressive from the freeway outside.

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce I have purchased an Adobe license. This follows my decade-long spree of pirating and manipulating free trials 🤫

In all seriousness, Newegg (of all places) is selling a bundle license for Lightroom + Photoshop for $95, which I think is quite reasonable.

I just ordered an expensive pillow, but I’m fully prepared to return it if it doesn’t meet my high expectations.

There’s nothing I particularly dislike about my current and long-standing cheap pillow, but I feel like something better has the potential to be a huge QOL improvement.
