And the night before the Joshua Tree was released, U2 played to a couple of hundred people in a studio behind the King’s Hall for the Old Grey Whistle Test, with an as-yet-unheard-of Sinead O’Connor as support. Somehow, I was lucky enough to get to be at both those gigs.

I don’t think it’s for any other reason than the alliteration with Dundee. And then you get the nice little ‘dun’ into the ‘hum’ of Humberside. The sound of the words is more important than the geography. And yes, I take it as a personal affront that Morrissey turned out to be an arse.

It’s all in the eye of yer beholder, innit?

Also, I can’t even be totally dismissive of old Crocodile Shoes as Paddy McAloon wrote a handful of those songs for him.

None of those bands even made a top 1000 album of the 90s… Your Copper Blue is a pretty perfect choice, however, this is even better…
