Kind of a strange (oddly thrifty with context and very brief) article that didn’t really show examples as to why this thinking was bad. I think PAEs are fools errand and illusion of progress or change btw

Eye opening! Is there any reason to think things have changed or that they have only gotten worse?
January 27, 2026 at 11:46 AM
Sure, I mean I think ICE/CBP (I have seen it anecdotally referred to as even worse than ICE in terms of culture) should be totally dismantled in its current form and redone.

No argument from me

Yeah, I can understand but civil servant world is a little different. Pay grades are less hierarchical and not a rank. It doesn’t map to military structure in a pure sense

In this case power and perception of power flowed from proximity to the WH/cab level secretary.
January 27, 2026 at 1:28 AM
That doesn’t solve the problem of someone reporting to a cabinet level secretary. At that point the “supervisor” is just signing his time card. What I am saying is that the normal rules didn’t apply which is why I think it’s a little rich to expect a whole bunch of people to resign (they should!)
January 27, 2026 at 1:19 AM
Sorry, not sure I follow what you mean by this. Like have someone else supervise him?
January 27, 2026 at 1:14 AM
SES don’t have resignation letters pre written in a desk drawer. My point is, and i am not disagreeing there should be accountability, but that is difficult when the supervisory chain is disintermediated as flamboyantly as it was
January 27, 2026 at 1:13 AM
How do you supervise someone that reports directly to a cab secretary? The answer is you can’t without repercussions to your own career. Granted w/politicals no expectation to do something, the career SES on the other hand have some culpability but what would you have them do? Resign or get fired?
January 27, 2026 at 1:05 AM
I just wonder how they can. I remember seeing the amount they got and wonder how they would be able to execute the money in a timely manner… guess it doesn’t matter

Don’t the appros have expiration dates?
January 25, 2026 at 6:38 PM
By who? Congress? I am not trying to be combative; I think the body cam thing is the illusion of some type of meaningful check being enacted. Plays well, but when crimes are committed and recorded by the public and the perp in the case of Renee Good shooting body cams don’t mean much
January 20, 2026 at 2:19 PM
They commit crimes in full view of the public. What difference in a meaningful sense does this make? Zero as far as I can think about it
January 20, 2026 at 2:15 PM
This is something I have been pondering as well if we have an admin turnover at this point in ‘28. What happens to the people that did all this? No one is going to be locked up, in fact I don’t see any type of measures being enacted if a dem takes office. It will be turn the page.

But to what?
January 15, 2026 at 12:22 PM
CBP as well.
January 13, 2026 at 12:28 AM
CBP needs to be part as well. They appear to be committing some of the most conspicuous actions
January 13, 2026 at 12:27 AM
Very ignorant of constitutional matters, but find it fascinating. Does Congress not prescribe via laws passed how the executive executes? Isn’t that the point of removal in only cases for cause or that people need to be in good standing (I am trying to remember how @joshchafetz.bsky.social dscrb it)
January 12, 2026 at 8:05 PM
I actually see this as a good thing if this is anything like how DoD manages acquisitions with its PEOs (now PAEs) total dumpster fire
January 12, 2026 at 5:58 PM
This is the logical conclusion of a deeply violent and imperialist culture incapable of reckoning with the aftermath of a catastrophe of 9/11.

We organized around constructing an extremely powerful and paranoid federal police state and the chickens have come home to roost.

Why is anyone shocked?

Wrong take, brodacho

I think the tattoo stuff has pretty much passed over at this point. People made their decision on it. Guy has the thing.. remains to be seen what that portends. I only see hardcore politik folk on bluesky with drugged about it
