I'm convinced the return of that concept in recent years is a function of the broader 90s(ish) nostalgia fashionable at the moment. you get your nirvana shirts, your jncos, and your half-assed definitions/uses of pomo. Ironically, that's all very postmodern as Jameson would have it.
