3. You pump them so full of psychoactive drugs they can't hurt a fly.

Option three sounds the least bad, but to do that you would have to drug them so intensely against their will (most likely) it would require permanent lifelong confinement. So, basically option one again but with asylums.

I only see 3 real choices that are functionally the same in the end.

1. You lock them in a cage forever. You basically re-create prison.

2. You execute them. You determine they are too dangerous to be allowed to live and put them down.

Most abolitionists seem to focus on rehabilitation, which I agree with. Which is why I ask : what do you do with those who can not be rehabilitated, and their crimes are so heinous that they cannot be allowed to live with or close to the rest of society?

It is undoubtedly true that the current criminal justice system is at best unable to do it's job, and at worst is racist, sexist, classist, and is acting as a tool to oppress the underclass. (It's almost exclusively the worst.)

The abolitionist usually either handwaves the question away with a response of, "what do we do now?" To which they expect the answer of nothing.

The other usual response is to get angry at you for "focusing too much on the worst of the worst." Then say you are asking in bad faith.

If Pennywise is feeling particularly nasty he might call his cousin The Cat in The Hat.

Yet Joe Biden still busted the rail union strike offering them meager scraps like a single sick day and a small raise over 5 years.

The ACA is ultimately a republican policy since it was Romney-care from Massachusetts.

Instead of punishing the rampant speculation that lead to the 2008 real estate crash, they bailed them out and didn't even give them a slap on the wrist.

They do that instead of trying to rebuild their past strong relationships with blue collar workers and unions.

They do that instead of trying to stop Blackstone and similar corpo-rats from gobbling up more and more single family homes.
