An extreme average fellow falls in love with her in the course of circumstances, and spends the rest of the book and it's three sequels trying to contend with her self loathing, hoping someday she can believe that he really does love her. I don't know what happened in the movie as I never saw it.

In the Mortal Engines novel, the young woman protagonist (Hester) is described as so facially disfigured people would gasp in horror if catching a glimpse of her uncovered face. 2018 movie version: conventionally attractive woman with a cute scar.

Yikes! That can be traumatic, I know. But what if something happens at one of the 12 California Sandwiches locations in our province? Just kidding. I've tried to tighten up the filters to better detect these stray interlopers. If you see more slipping through, forward them to me via direct message.

War can be a metaphor for societal sickness. It can be a metaphor working against binary divides. It can be a metaphor for class stratification. It can be a metaphor for insanity. Can you think of the books I am thinking of?

Am I more amused or frightened? Frightened, definitely frightened.

Middlemarch, seconded for Moby Dick like substance. Or, wildly off the beaten cultural path... Too Like The Lightning by Ada Palmer.

Spotted cucumber beetle. Be careful they don't get out of control. They eat a lot.

I haven't understood a single one of these replies.

Well in the article I read that headline quote went on with, "and he ain't coming down." Could be crypto-atheist. Kinda sounded like implied threat actually; anti-theist with secret plans to bomb heaven if the L is foolish enough to make one wrong move. Oh god, sleep posting again. What a dream...

Hey, hope things work out okay for you too. Good luck (sincerely) finding some kind of community somewhere even if not here. (Maybe you could figure out some filters to protect yourself from some of the negative stuff?) Just a random passer by, wishing you well.

Always suspected the numbers 1 through 10 were evil. From now on I start at 11. 🤘

Not a lot of activity on that feed yet, so I've attempted to create a more complex feed to capture more references to Hamilton (including in replies) than just the #HamOnt tag. Seems to be finding a bit more stuff. If curious try...
