I wish people could like, boycott some of these cons😭😭 like there are some cons that are just outright god awful to their artists and basically admit it, still have a high table price and they apply to it anyway, please guys, stand up😭

It had to be done lol, it's something that I hear time and time again from other artists in the scene, and honestly can't believe more people don't talk about this

I just feel like I see way too many inexperience and/or beginner artists in this scene, and I think they should be at home practicing their fundamentals and improving their art rather than trying to craft the perfect convention portfolio. That will come with time once you improve your art as a whole

I don’t think you should be starting an artist alley business at the same time as you are starting your art journey, it’s just not the way to go about it

If you do not have a comfortable style you are satisfied with, you will be mentally exhausted of how capitalistic this career can be and can ruin you and your art.

Be comfortable in your skin and proud of your work before you make money off of it🫶

it is a content mill forreal dude, and these people don't realize they're contributing to the problem of oversaturation, literally killing their own business😭

A lot of conventions and events also treat you like shit so there is honestly no incentive to do this LOL

This job is not glamorous, it can seem so online in the few moments, but that is literally only like 2% in between the actual convention days when you’re just hanging out with friends, everything else is excruciating and exhausting

For some of us this is our only option and we are just trying our best, and we’re being over saturated because people see big numbers online by people who romanticize this career and do not discuss the enormous costs mentally and financially

I hate that a lot of these waitlist and rejections aren’t even the result of like a jury process, because a lot of these shows do a lottery based application, so my fate is just determined by a machine and I can’t do anything about it lol
