Also, small world, I looked at your bio, my husband studied NMR at the MagLab as a grad student. Except not chem but physics/engineering.

Tech support coupled with many people who don't understand how to use tech. I think more screens will absolutely become more popular as the younger generations have more voting sway.

Thankful we have TouchWriters for that as an option!

That problem is above the base problem of money. Overhauling every state, city and county to use the exact same system/machine plus the man hours of training everyone on them.

Interesting, in our county(small) every early vote is either cast by mail or at the registrar's office. We also can't print any ballots, they are printed by a company and all have unique codes.

Glad you put this here, I was going to write similar. Been an election worker for multiple years and so has my husband. It's pretty exhausting trying to explain all the processes to people who have no experience. I always just end it with "you should work an election".

BOO! I voted for you and you betrayed the American people. You were supposed to hold the line. You think the Republicans will play nice next time? Delusional.

Very thankful we at least don't need a signature to compare to.

That's always the hugest bummer to see. In VA for early mail voting thankfully the registrar can contact them to fix their inner envelope. With provisional there isn't any way to fix mistakes after the election, not currently anyways.

I agree, the spoon is too niche, if it's a logo it should be something everyone can instantly recognize and understand. I vote circles in either color.

Tuned in last night, although I couldn't engage in chat because I didn't remember my password and I had to email support 😅 Fun to watch though, very silly game.

Waiting patiently for Android

... Last 4 of your social, address, signature, date. Nobody opens those inner envelopes until pre processing starts. Before then only the registrars office looks at that info on the inner envelope and attempts to contact the voter if something is missing.

I can only really give an example from my state of Virginia, but we have multiple envelopes for mail in ballots. You have your outer envelope, that's got your return address and it's mailed to the registrar. Inside is a second envelope that you fill out with your specific information: DoB, Name,...

... If a candidate won by 3%,. You recount until your confidence error is smaller than the percentage won by the candidate.
March 4, 2025 at 8:31 PM
For those of you who don't quite understand what an RLA is or what would trigger it: you pull the amount of ballots that would give you no less ballots required to achieve the confidence interval (2x your margin of error)...
March 4, 2025 at 8:30 PM
It's okay! I enjoy talking to people about the process, because it can be a little confusing. You mentioned previously the process of an RLA, which by design would find any statistical anomaly(based on prior data) to then audit anywhere that puts up that red flag and another count would be made.

I looked at the substack, it's interesting data, but there are key points missing(provisional ballots being the biggest thing I can think of). I tried to look up Shaotran's account here and all I saw were people posting that he's a Musk/DOGE stooge, so I'm immediately skeptical.
March 4, 2025 at 2:16 PM
I'll look at that link soon, but that just doesn't make sense(and I'm a dem by the way). When you count votes, the ballots given/issued needs to exactly match with those counted at the end. That and if your ballots have both R's and D's on it it's impossible to know who is registered as what.
March 4, 2025 at 12:53 PM
What makes you think they are compromised (Asking as an election worker)? Manual counting has more error and takes MUCH longer.

Just finished watching this video. Thank you, it was excellent(as are all of your others).

2) telling people what's happening, how it affects them in their daily life, how to protest, what not to say to cops, etc. Get on the citizens level. Record it, put it out there for everyone to see.

1) My general take is that these elected politicians need to be in the streets talking to their constituents daily. Instead of posting "this new thing that's happened is bad!"(Rinse repeat), they need to figure out how to reach normal (not terminally online) people. Regular folks who don't know.
