Building castles and crashing with my spline system haha. Turns out you can get more stable when you click away from spline points before returning back to them. Doing a lot real estate work at the moment, but hopefully can pivot back to coding in a bit. #gamedev #ue5

Making spline walls is not for the weak hearted. I spent 2 hours trying to get collision to work until... I just added a new blueprint into the map and found out that the original BP stopped updating somehow for the collision setting since I updated a lot of items. #gamedev #ue5

Is it better to have tons of npc enemies like in diablo or fewer like in skyrim?

Avowed proves to me that I'm doing the right thing by working on my own rpg. Bethesda has dropped the ball too many times as well. Harry potter game is also pretty mediocre. Have the good devs died to covid? #gamedev #rpg #ue5

Working on one of the cities next. Pretty much no assets out there that I can use that are free, so I suppose it's time to learn blender #gamedev #gamer #ue5

It took a few days, but now my forest is a little more optimized. Up from 30fps to 60/70fps depending on positioning. Will be interesting to see what happens when I add smart npcs and add combat. My worry is that I am still about 10-20fps short here. The forest looks so good though. #gamedev #ue5

Would you want to play a video game rpg where NPCs have a mind of their own? #gamedev #ai #ue5

Making the game is a catch 22 exercise. I need to get a trailer soon to raise some funds for marketing and to start marketing the game, but to get there, I need to make the game without the funds or any certainty that other people want the same game that I do. #gamedev #ue5

Working with materials and adding foliage to the type of material is quite tricky. Not certain if it's my PC that's creating a situation where nothing loads or if there are just too many assets imported in ue5, which seems unlikely. #gamedev #unrealengine5

Modern games with their "restricted words" for a name are simply trash. Sure they do some good, but you can still type out obscene words and yet my name "Arsen" is somehow banned. (Means masculine in Greek). Not in my game. Games are like books, and we need to honor free speech.

Does anyone know what to do to find what's putting stress on the Input in Unreal Engine 5.5? ChatGPT hasn't really given me a good answer, and google isn't much better. Not quite sure what's hanging it up.

Going at lightning speed, drawing a sketch, uploading into an AI model to color it, and creating 3D models in only a couple hours. Done with 65 models (first pass lower poly) already. Indie games can become AAA games soon imo. Prove me wrong. #UE5 #gamedev #sneakpeak

Some days I don't have time to work on my rpg game, and when that happens, I think it's critical to at least do some work to keep the momentum going. Whether working on NPC planning while I'm free for a few minutes, or main story. #gamedev #gamer #ue5

It's kinda insane to think about how little freedom RPG games allow. If I want to be able to create a potion that blows up a town, that should be allowed. Or if I'd like to build a home, etc! Skyrim, as amazing of a game as it was, could be so much more. #gamedev #ue5

Might be controversial, but I think I want to add a bounty system to the game I'm building. Hunting down evil would be fun. Do you want map markers, vague map circled areas (last seen), or should this be under difficulty setting? #ue5 #gamedev #gamer

This is baby steps towards a world larger than Skyrim, as deep as Diablo and as re-playable as AoE2, but it feels pretty cool having gotten this far already. Map is taking form, most places are accessible, and textures are starting to look better. Finishing up last two biomes. #gamedev #gamer #ue5

New games aren't as good because they've lost touch with what mattered to a fun experience. The music isn't the same, the options are less intriguing, etc. who else wants a better experience? #gamer #gamedev

Painting my map & just learned that you can't have one material for the entire map. Instead, you could subdivide your map into regions & have a few materials which apparently makes it easier on your PC to color the base map. Which method of painting do you prefer? #gamedev #UE5

Free Unreal Engine 5 Assets such as Auto Materials are terrible if you are using them inside your game! Instead, read the documentation and learn how those assets work so that you can create your own original effects. Glad I realized this quickly. #gamedev #gamer #UE5

Game design document is going along pretty well at this point. I feel that voice acting and higher fidelity graphics are what's going to be the hardest to achieve. Anyone else building a large open world game? #gamedev #gamer

Got a couple 2D drawings going for the new game. Started with my own drawing, uploaded into an ai model to refine, and voila, an original/AI blend. Has anyone used AI to speed up 3D model creations? #unrealengine5 #gamedev #gamer

Adding an ocean and a lake was easy, but the river broke my session in UE5. Water plug in has been in beta/experimental for a while it seems. Is there a better way to add rive and lakes? #gamedev #gamer #unrealengine5

When working with limited hardware (3070 gtx nvidia, 16gb ram, intel 10700k 3.8ghz), it's imperative to be able to create lighter tasks for the unreal engine. Ie, instead of world partitioning after you create the landscape, do it at start. #gamedev #unrealengine

Working on an open world game and one thing that's overrated is the map generation by ai or other models (gaea, world gen, etc). If you want a fantasy map with "non-natural" landscapes that feel more interesting then you still need to do everything by hand. #unrealengine5 #gamedev
