What bothers about the claim "Historians called them roomates" is that historians aren't old cis white men for decades. I feel like folks are unaware of LGBT+ historians or would rather ignore they exist. The other issue is how not all romances are sexual. Asexual and platonic relationships exist.

This fits perfectly with dream logic. One minute you are hiking up a mountain then next thing you know you are working in your uncle's underwater super market while working a kitchen in the living room.

Thanks for letting me know that I will never be successful or engaging if I write from a perspective that isn't white. Apparently it's my problem for being unable to default to white culture and any resistance is due to being ignorant and vain. The hero's journey is your friend, nothing else.

Writting advice that I received, that highlights this problem, is how you have to write stories without introducing your cultural beliefs in order to be successful. You can't lose your audience because it's not the default. You can only sprinkle them in but cant have it be the base of your story.

It would be interesting to see what a wolf man story would look like based on a tribe's beliefs or as a metaphor for social problems that affect the community as a whole. Just wish folks will stop homogenizing and thinking every culture has the same default beliefs they do therefore any can write.

He's pulling out the whatever is not within christianity is satanic card. As soon as you see the phrase "child sacrifice" the entire statement loses credibility. It's a tactic to justify cruelty.

... but once you link horror to bad behaviors or mental illness or moral character such as people who like Terrifier are sadists I get very worried. That's stuff I hear from Advetists. Horror is one of the few places where you find a lot of queer content and controlled safe spaces.

... which makes me wonder if it's linked to this line of thought within Christianity. I've heard these things from Adventists that it caught me off guard when I heard it from folks who were ex-christians. I can understand content warning for those that may find certain topics too much to handle...

A question for folks, does it take a while for those who are ex-christians to become comfortable with horror. I've met atheists who came from a white evangelical background that are very negative on the genre. One person linked the enjoyment of horror to mental illness or unwelcomed behaviors ...

I am used to this but only when a history related film screen in theaters or is available to stream. The amount of Napoleon experts were very grating. For a while Titanic was a non-stop topic of pop culture history and misinformation thanks to OceanGate.

As a kid I kept confusing the Xylophone with the Marimba. I can only tell the difference based on the pitch. Now I want to listen to a couple of songs while I read. Have a piece. 😄
