Reframer of concept, unspecific pronouns (it/it's preferred, no pressure tho it doesn't matter).
At a certain point in the semester my brain lays down and quits working because it's so sure I'm an imposter who knows nothing and applies thought in no original ways.

I'd love to do a test of this survey platform. If you enjoy helping a student, have time to waste, or otherwise are more curious than is good for you and now that I've MENTIONED there's a survey you gotta at least go see it... Please consider filling it out.

Next time I hear someone moaning about how they paid for some municipal service because property taxes... I'm asking them how much their house is worth, calculating an estimate on their property right in front of them and then asking them how they think that entitles them to behave that way.

I have so so so much to do on my final paper for my sociology of social movements class.

... So naturally I did my dishes, devised a way to hang my dish cloth somewhere other than the neck of the faucet, and changed out the knobs on my sticker cabinet for cute dish knobs from my deceased father.

One of my favourite things is finding a published #sociology article where the authors are quoting another sociologist who used some of their research or theory (in their eyes) wrong and they published a whole ass article to argue.

Regarding the Montreal protests. Show me who the people who were spouting antisemitism were. Show me they were the organizers with a long standing history of posting about their beliefs.

This is appalling and awful but violent protest isnt new. The antisemitism is new. And was really egregious.

Wordy sociologists. Student question. How long is too long for a run on sentence...?
I try to keep my sentences 5 lines or less but sometimes I get up to six lines. My peers are always on me when we edit each other's work and my professors are truly lenient saints. How much should I work on this?

Post your TBR pile.

Some of these babies are for a research project I really want to have the energy to conduct someday. Some are leftover from my contemporary sociological theory class. I'm just dreaming of finishing this semester...

My most-viral post ever:

“Book historian who tells students constantly that if they listen to the audiobook, they are literally reading 18th century novels the way the large chunk of the original audience experienced the book. Silent, solitary reading by eye alone is so so recent!”

I desperately need to remember my commitment to academic excellence sooner than two weeks before things are due... Working and going to school is hard.

Are introductions what the noobs are doing? Greetings. Amie. Middle aged. Vaguely human shaped. Too many interests. Not enough time or energy. Sociology student. Frequent failure, spinner of props, reframer of concept, overcomer of odds, paranoid weirdo trying to move through the world with grace.
