I don’t think Trump has much of anything in common with the “conservatives” of the 20th century in terms of content.

He took the GOP voting coalition in 2020 but “this was an inevitable result of capitalism” is just dumb

the "AI is a bubble" people insist it's always going to be laughable => they blind people to propaganda botnets.

Bots are incredibly persuasive because they can adopt the user's language/worldview!

The fact that such stark insincerity is allowed seems like a separate development (20 years ago Condoleezza Rice was part of the republicans but she wasn’t out)

everything is identity politics, "reason" as an ideal had to be fought for (ironically, liberalism naturalizing "reason" to make the medicine go down = we take it for granted...)

can't explain sacrifice (e.g. soldiers) by self-interest, imo (group) identity is the foundation

psychologism places the burden on the observer (sociologists), rather than the subject, while the observer is still supposed to measure outcomes of action by rationality...

not a great way to do things: the subject knows better what's going on inside his head
