The only thing I can say about Keir Starmer is thank God he wasn't PM back in May 1940.
He will go along dutifully with whatever Trump claims.
Canadians would be fools to think this punter would have our back in a showdown with Trump.

Starmer backs Trump’s Iran bombing saying Tehran cannot develop a nuclear weapon
Prime minister backs US president as he bombs Iranian nuclear sites and says key facilities ‘completely and totally obliterated’

Palestine was a dominant topic at the World Health Assembly this year.

Countries debated how to respond to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and agreed to include Palestine to the International Health Regulations regime.

My reporting, with @pritipatnaik.bsky.social, for the Geneva Health Files.

Statement by the People's Health Movement's #WHOWatch team on #NCDs at #WHA78

"Neoliberal economic policies, particularly with the increasing power of big corporations, have significantly, both directly and indirectly, contributed to the rise of NCDs in developed and developing countries."
@who.int
Image of People's Health Movement statement on NCDs at the World Health Assembly. Test reads: NCDs cannot be addressed in isolation from social, economic and commercial determinants of health.
Neoliberal economic policies, particularly with the increasing power of big corporations, have significantly, both directly and indirectly, contributed to the rise of NCDs in developed and developing countries.
Impoverishing policies adopted by MS, in the name of trade liberalisation and attracting foreign investment, need to be examined in light of their impact on population health. We urge Member States to adopt institutional mechanisms that undertake such evaluations.
We call for stronger regulation of private sector practices, particularly those of transnational corporations, to protect population health. This includes controls over production, marketing and advertising of their products, particularly food, confectionary, and tobacco related products.

Reports from Gaza confirm that people are now literally dying of starvation.

Western leaders have issued words of condemnation, but words are not enough. They have the power to stop this genocide now.

"We need to progressively delink the incentives to invest in biomedical R&D from the grant of temporary monopolies. Legal monopolies on medicines predictably lead to high prices and appalling inequities of access and outcomes."

We love opera as much as the next person.

But amidst multiple intersecting global health crises, and with civil society delegations being limited to 60-second interventions in these crucial meetings, we wonder if this is the best use of time at the World Health Assembly. #WHA78
