But what gets me is that this character seems to be placed in the same group as the woman who talks to a log or a deaf FBI chief that always shouts and misunderstands anything said to him - a group of surreal oddballs that lets you know you’re not in Kansas anymore.

I remember wanting to like it and appreciate that they weren’t cruel about the characterization, and that it was about as good as I could hope for from the era.
