The humanities teach us deeply about ourselves, they unlock critical understanding, and they inspire us in all sorts of unexpected ways. Great artists move us, and are no lesser geniuses just because there wasn’t math involved. Why is a stage less important than a laboratory?

I also respect people who cross over! In either direction! You grew up with canned but learned to enjoy the complexity and variation of homemade versions? Beautiful! You grew up with homemade but actually the cleanness of the can brings you more comfort? Absolutely fair!

We imprint so hard on what we grew up with! My Italian-American family was always dedicated to cooking everything from scratch so I never had canned cranberry sauce til I was an adult, so to me it’s totally bland and inadequate by comparison!
