I made this account to express my thoughts.
I am a huge fan of horror (very critical of it too).
There will ALWAYS be spoilers.
I draw very rarely.
In Curse of Michael Myers it was so funny how he somehow knew exactly how the machine that he used to kill Jaime worked. Why does it seem to be just implicit knowledge for him lmao.

ANYWAY, It's not a bad book, but I do agree with some people who say that it's one of his most overrated books. I liked it, don't get me wrong, but it did not make me feel like it was in any way better than the miniseries, and especially not the remake.

killing children is pressuring enough?? Threatening enough?? I understand why neither the miniseries nor the remake included it...
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
Ngl, weird take but I also feel like making IT a female was a weird decision. It felt sort of unnecessary too. I know people might say "noo, it was to pressure them into finishing it all because otherwise it would have offsprings!!" but I... think the fact that it would keep on-

lazily done cheering words. Then he fucking dies in such a lame fucking way. I genuinely thought that, SOMEHOW, IT killed him, BUT NO. HE DEADASS DIED LIKE A DRUNKTARD: HE PUKED IN HIS OWN SHELL AND DROWNED IN IT. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS THE POINT OF THE STUPID TURTLE THEN LMAO.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
I had the idea that the reason why the miniseries and the remake chose to leave the turtle part out was because it was sort of a silly concept, but now that I read it I realize that it's because it was literally fucking NOTHING. The turtle appears, tells Bill to fix his own problems and gives some-

It felt so ass. There were many, many, MANY parts where I just felt like the remake did it so much better. Fuck, even the miniseries did their relationship better, and that part felt rushed as fuck.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
AND IN THE EXACT SAME SCENE WHERE BEN CONFESSES SHE EVEN SAYS THAT SHE KNEW BEN WROTE IT. WHAT THE FUCK? Them ending together in the book absolutely did not feel earned at all. It was only after Bill was done with her and remembered he loved his wife that she went "oh well, consolation prize time."
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
Bev is a good character, but the way King writes her interactions with Ben even as adults felt so fucking awful. Even after his confession when they were kids, she still doesn't give a shit and keeps glorifying Bill, when she supposedly fell in love with him because she thought he wrote the poem.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
Not to mention just how his entire relationship with Bev since they were kids was purely sexual. It's another fucking weird thing where King puts a lot of effort into building that feels so extra and unwarranted. Bev NEVER gives Ben a single thought even when he OUTRIGHT confesses.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
I was also not a huge fan of the Bill from the book. He feels so overhyped, yet he's a very boring character when you actually look into him. He's only ever glorified because King wants you to, so he does it through the losers' to make you feel like you, too, like him.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
It's even weird that he loved them as much as he did as an adult because they barely have any natural occurring interactions. Once again, King mostly focused on everyone's relationship with Bill and Bev.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
Stan and Eddie's friendship is very surface level and never fully explored, so is Stan and Ben, and even Eddie and Ben (past them meeting). Mike's friendship with anyone but Bill is the worst of all. He barely ever gets to interact with any of them outside the group if it isn't Bill.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
Not to mention many of the boys barely ever have interactions with each other; their friendships are never fully explored because of how much King focuses on their relationship with Bev or Bill.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
"no, he doesn't? They are all friends" but I fucking assure you that he would never have written that scene if it were a group of only boys. It was purely done because Bev was a girl. It's weird. I'm not accusing him of anything, I know he was high af and drunk, but it's still really unnecessary.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
Tbf, he treats the friendship between Bev and the boys in a very sexual way. It feels like he's the type of dude to say that men and women can't be friends unless there's something sexual or romantic going on, perpetuating a terrible stereotype. I know you may say-
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
the dude deadass wrote around 3 to 4 pages of c p??? I know there are weirdos out there who defend this scene and think it was necessary, even, but it just isn't. He uses the excuse that it's so they will be "united" again, but that only ever unites them to Beverly, who is, again, being sexualized.
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
And obviously THAT scene. I'll be real and say that despite the fact that I knew it was coming I definitely did NOT expect it to be that graphic. I genuinely thought that it was gonna be just an explanation of what they did and like maybe just sorta implying what was going on, but no-
January 8, 2026 at 9:05 AM
But I also feel like this book genuinely needs a "cut" version where they take out unnecessary details that bloat the story or slow it to a crawl. Not to mention taking out a bunch of times where Beverly was super sexualized, ESPECIALLY when King did it with her as a fucking 11-year-old child.

Or talking shit on the OOC post round very vaguely about you. Like I said, I know mods can't control the behavior of people, but it just makes me too afraid to venture out of the same 2 jobs I always do. Bleh. Still love those servers tho.
January 5, 2026 at 8:25 AM
I know some servers have a "beginner friendly" tag and I also know that they can't control everything their players do, but you can't blame me from feeling intimidated to try new jobs when the round ghosts constantly shit talk new players taking advantage of them not being able to hear them-
