Great results using decompressed textures here - no more GPU/CPU spiking when spinning cam.
This is on a 5090 and 9800X3D, and running the decompressed high res texture pack (fully loaded via hardlinking method found here: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/... )

adding a hard link file for it and having the game load the actual textures as another patch pak (why this works is a mystery to me I'd love to know, it seems really, REALLY weird).

In both cases though, frame spikiness is drastically lowered!

FWIW I've been thrilled with the results of decompressing the textures on a 5090/9800X3D system - the new tools make it easy, and the high res texture pack can work with it either in a half-working manner by default that has the benefit of better performance, or fully loading the textures via

regarding what precisely about the directstorage/decompression is causing the stutters. The high res pack in particular is also affected by how Capcom is loading it, again according to Kaldaien

SK can still get it to use GPU decompression but even then it's tricky (global injection won't do it, for me local via loading as a plugin via RE Framework does). For most users, and even most using SK, it will be using the CPU fallback.

tl;dr this complicates some of the conclusions in the video

There's some important misses in the video unfortunately - not sure how @dachsjaeger.bsky.social was running his setup with Special K, but it's actually been extremely difficult for people to get GPU decompression to run on the GPU in Wilds for a long time now.
This was from April 2025:

Stills of the bush where it gets briefly turned into a weird pattern

It's so oddly subtle due to its fade in and out that at first I thought maybe it was my eyes tricking me, then peered more closely at the screen and there it was

My favourite thing was discovering one of the recommended solutions to try was the all time classic

Percussive maintenance

Alas, no dice at least so far... going to leave it till tomorrow and see if it'll open its eyes again

The inclusion of the Black Flame just chilling off camera to the right, then a cut shortly after it waved its tentacles to say hi, was just the perfect way to include it without stepping on toes, well done 🫡
