Poking my head above the battlements briefly - this bluethroat gave me some of the last half-usable shots from my poor long-suffering Panasonic 100-300ii as its motors gave out. 🪶

Most of these shots went badly wrong because I didn't notice I'd accidentally changed the wrong settings, but a couple were sort of salvageable. Red kite trying (and ultimately failing) to catch one of these Egyptian goslings that had gotten separated. 🪶

Hey, they fixed the image selection widget at some point. Have a waxwing to celebrate. 🪶

ugh at some point they decided nobody should be allowed to post photos that weren't taken five minutes ago with the same device and it's so awful

I've not had much luck with bee-eaters and the light this year (despite the blue you see here) but they're certainly fun to watch. 🪶

Have an icterine warbler cleverly impersonating a reed warbler. 🪶

giving this thing a shot again, mostly for the partly incongruous, partly perfect christian vander soundtrack. plenty of other Choices made here, though. imagine trying to stage fight in those knight costumes

We'll have to settle for birds with reddish parts or "red" in the name if I'm not going to resort to zoo photos, I suppose.
August 14, 2023 at 8:25 PM
out watching the perseids, for once, relatively clear skies and all - which of course means they're choosing to take this year off
August 13, 2023 at 1:05 AM
Couple great reed warblers for bedtime. 🪶

Hey, raptor day. 🪶

Everyone appreciates a cormorant, of course. 🪶
August 3, 2023 at 6:49 PM
European bee-eaters! Hardly seeing them away from their main nearby colony this year, where they're harder to photograph without trespassing or otherwise getting too close to their nests.

@daryllmarie.bsky.social Hi there! Casual bird photography is one of my things. Can't keep up with the pros in terms of equipment or time invested, but I do get mildly interesting shots sometimes and I think Europe isn't represented too well on here yet. Mind handing me a 🪶?

I'll just keep putting creatures and things up here just in case. might save a life.
