I believe there's still a Jugger club playing in Dublin. They finished second in the Jugger world cup in 2016:

I get you about the covers but for me it's more about the subject matter - you get a bit cynical about biographies of crooks, gangsters, "agents", and drug dealers when you're from there! This recent documentary about the chinook crash might be of interest too:

Hmm, some iffy looking stuff there to be honest. I'd recommend Phoenix: Policing the Shadows - gives a fascinating insight into the security scene at the time and the helicopter crash that killed 29 high ranking security specialists.

I was gonna try and work out the theoretical mechanical advantage but the MASSIVE friction everytime the line pulls through one of those loops makes the whole thing pointless. A v rig plus reverse would probably be more effective.
