Morning, Friends. Now that the temperature has fallen spring bulb planting season in the garden. Yet even with the cold my rose Gaye Hammond still flowers beautifully! Have a safe Thanksgiving.

Autumn jobs begun this week among the beauty of roses.
Today’s joy is Floribunda rose Bolero among the Globe Amaranth (the edible Gomphrena globosa). Near white with a strong fruity perfume to my nose. Both are solid cut flowers too. Have a safe week. #inmygardentoday #autumn

Today’s joy is the marvelous rust red & smoky lavender floribunda rose Cinco de Mayo in the front garden bed. It has a mild, apple-like fragrance to my nose. I enjoy walkers who spot it and smile when they pass on the sidewalk.

Today’s joy is the wonderful Grandiflora Rose Cherry Parfait. It is a delicious rose with creamy petals dripping in cherry red. It always makes me smile. I hope it makes you smile too. It’s been a tough week.

I’ve been busy. I’ve had to do a bit of writing of sermons and lectures. Hot days = gardening for 2 hours before dawn finishing when the sun clears the trees. Still, pleased how the front bed is going. Here’s a view from the front window. Have a safe week.

Today’s joy is our still wildlife pond (no fish) before the heat and thunderstorms. Indian Pink (Spigelia marilandica) lower left, Iris ensata either side, Water Lily & Pickerel Weed (Pontederia cordata) within. The cream tufts of Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria) at the back.

Today’s joy is the long border on the east side of the garden in June with the Philadelphus coronarius and Tanacetum parthenium in the foreground. Walking north the planting immerses you in textures and the sounds of pollinators.

Today’s joy is the light pink flowers of the climbing Rose “New Dawn”. Discovered in 1930 here in New Jersey. It was the first plant to be patented in 1931.

Today’s joy during Chelsea week is the resilient and majestic rose “Peggy Martin”. It’s a symbol of renewal and regrowth after Hurricane Katrina, when it was one of only two plants to survive being submerged in salt water for two weeks.

Today’s joy is a rose in my garden, Souvenir du Président Lincoln. A bourbon rose introduced in 1865 and named to honor our president upon his death that year. It has a light perfume that fills the air. #inmygardentoday #rose #cottagegardenflowers
