White pralines with gold shimmer. Sesame covered truffles. Heart shapes and half-round pralines. All the pralines and truffles together on boards - it's a lot of chocolates and it's only half of what we made.

#readingontrains - one of the most pretentious books I've read for a while (this year topped only by Rovelli's "White Holes", the perhaps worst book I've read about physics).

Have fruit or berries left over that are about to turn bad? Cut them & freeze them (just pack them into a freezer bag or box & don't worry).

At a later point, get them out of the freezer, add them to a pot, heat & cook on low flame until turned into a lovely […]

I would really like to hold up a sign saying that this is a post-covid cough, not a "I am acutely sick" cough, so that all the other people in the train can see it. And yes, I'm going to carry it around for quiet some more weeks.

I'm not giving interviews about pre-prints that have not been through peer review yet.

Yes, peer-review is deeply flawed, but it's the best we have right now. At least someone tried their best to make sure the result is sound. They may fail, but they tried.

Roasted parsnips with Philadelphia sesame dip. Given how rainy and dark it is today (and how _much_ work was), I really needed something simple and yummy from the oven to warm myself and the downstairs in the house up.
