Last year I went to handover where all my 20something colleagues looked at my sympathetically and asked how I’d done my back in. The only answer I had was ‘I got out of bed aged over 40’.

I’m also ‘people don’t laugh, they worry when I fall over’ years old.

I am so sorry you had this experience. Similarly, I had a miscarriage after having been a dr for over a decade and heard early loss described as ‘like a heavy period’. I could only conclude the describers had never had a miscarriage or a period.
