Anyone know what happened? He looked to be flying then came off course just below Pinhaw Beacon.

No. Particularly given the huge difference in terrain. But I guess the diversion is there for a reason and there should be a penalty if you don’t follow it.

He has been judged to have an advantage and has been given a 26 minute penalty. Seems a bit harsh. #spinerace

It’s an official diversion. All the Challenger North runners are going this way. And subsequent full #spinerace runners. Question is, does John Kelly get a penalty for not taking the diversion?

Looks like all the runners at Lothersdale have retired. CS back marker now on the descent into Thornton. I predict an overhaul between Gargrave and Malham.
