Sure. I find it fascinating, you've opened up some interesting thoughts and conversations, thank you. Although I'm a poet, it's not a world I understand much of. A lot of it with the bigger publishers feels quite murky (as in, not clear, rather than necessarily nefarious!)

Are all of them academics working in Creative Writing departments? What about those who aren't?

Hmm, interesting, thanks. Meanwhile, the writers on whose 'product' the funding is dependent are therefore presumably on the receiving end of low sales and poor royalties... when you put like that, the machine seems pretty off-kilter.

Interesting Matthew, thanks for your transparency on your own sales... why do you think the 'bigger' publishers are not selling more? Is it more about personal networks?

You're very welcome, it was a fun one 😌

Oh, Math! Goodness, how did I miss commenting on this last week when I was hosting! I'm so sorry! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I love it, especially these gorgeous last lines,

'All the other I was.
Living as a written thing.'

Thanks so much for sharing & sorry for the radio silence 😬❤️

A fitting end to the week's proceedings, Dave! 👏🏼 I'm not sure; I !think? this is my favourite, of the lot.

Well, I will have to have a look over there, then! Thanks David, stoked to have had a poem from you for this week's #promptcombo 😁

So impish, these wayward scriptlings, David! Love this - I think it's the longest poem I've read of yours. I am picturing all sorts of impish, cunning creatures winking conspiratorially at me as I read 😁

So glad you could muster a poem for us, Gary, thank you! I think we are all waiting for those moments when the words just fly... ✍🏼🪽

I think I might be going completely mad, Francis, but I almost detect a slight hint of The Lorax (Dr Suess) about this poem! Something about smoke-smuggered stars and poisoned fish. Thanks so much for your engagement with the prompt this week.

A wonderful tripping, toe tapping, rhythmic poem, Dave! 😁🩰

One of the best feelings, when someone else's work shows you ways of doing things you didn't even know were possible.

What lovely comments, thank you so much. It's to heartening also for me, to hear that another human recognises something of what I was trying to articulate here ❤️

Thank you! 🙏🏼

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The poem stolen, or the heart? Or both, perhaps. I'm glad you're enjoying the prompt ☺️
