And yet again I sing the praises of my (Dymo) label printer. It's christmas time, I need to send out cards. And unfailingly this thing....

..... what's that? Christmas cards? You don't know what those are? Yeah, I seem to be a holdout.

I think in the past week I've thrown away four 2026 calendars. Can I tell charities such as #oceanconservancy "if you dare send me another calendar I won't donate to you again"?

Fortune cookies are usually offensively inoffensive. But this one was surprising:

"Your next Chinese meal will bring you more cookies!"

March 13, 2025 at 1:28 PM
I thought I'd bring some new music to the Austin @amrecordersociety.bsky.social meeting. So we played music from:
1. Violet Evergarden (Japanese series)
2. Legend of Zelda (video game)
3. Tale of the nine-tailed (Korean series)
and of course
4. A Hatsune Miku song!
A good time was had by all.

I decided to time my drive home from UT at 5pm. Taking all major roads: 22 minutes at 20mph average. Going through all neighborhoods, (almost) never getting out of 2nd gear: 25 minutes at 18.5mph. Draw your own conclusions.

The @blantonmuseum.bsky.social opens a new exhibit including cool surrealist art by Arshil Gorky and Isamu Noguchi. Ok, the "Monument to Ben Franklin" is not terribly "sur" but it tickled my fancy.
