I used to be a student of literature, a lawyer, a real estate developer. Now I grow grapes.

I haven’t shut off DMs but don’t expect an answer.
Not a single life will be lost because eight Democratic senators folded. Trump and the Republicans are more than happy to let people die.

THERE WAS NO WINNING STRATEGY.

Sometimes you have to play with a 2-7 (and you aren’t Doyle Brunson) while your opponent has a pair of Aces. MAGA has the entire federal government and doesn’t care how much people suffer. There was no winning strategy.

January is a better time for this fight. Snap will be funded for the year. Everyone will know the increase in ACA. Federal employees won’t go without pay through the holidays. Flights won’t be as busy and holiday travel won’t be disrupted.

Prepare & have the nerve to stay out as long as necessary.

Thune will make good on his deal. It costs him nothing since the House will never vote on it
November 11, 2025 at 3:33 AM
I think the Nevada Senators were simply voting to benefit their state. Nevada has tourism and federal funds, not much else. The only votes that may have been taken so someone else didn’t have to are probably Kane and Durbin and I don’t think either will run again
November 11, 2025 at 3:31 AM
Republicans wouldn’t win more than 80 seats in the Senate
November 11, 2025 at 3:21 AM
I, of course, am a brilliant negotiator. By the time I am done with them United Healthcare will be begging to pay me 🤣
November 11, 2025 at 2:51 AM
Kaine and King probably don’t run again as well.
November 11, 2025 at 1:52 AM
Not convinced unless he has binders.
November 11, 2025 at 12:54 AM
Ok, that’s true but I just wasted half an hour to find out that the attribution to Lenin is very weak (and it doesn’t sound like him, although I haven’t read a lot of Lenin and only in translation and it could have been cleaned up later). I also learned that it’s been attributed to many others.
November 11, 2025 at 12:01 AM
Ah, the same people as the big manly men with a tear in their eye that Trump quotes.

Marxists would tell you that revolutions don’t come from the lumpen proletariat or, if you prefer, the reserve labor force

By our standards Atlanta is a very sophisticated place
November 10, 2025 at 10:27 PM
Well, I’d hate to see you waste some of your life, but if you spent some time in the rural south or almost any rural area, I think you’d be convinced.

Or to put it in terms that might make sense to a Canadian, imagine a whole country like Alberta, but not quite as smart.
November 10, 2025 at 10:22 PM
If you’re Canadian then you probably don’t understand (or can’t believe) just how stupid we Usians are.
November 10, 2025 at 10:04 PM
Be careful. The last thing you want is for your obituary to begin by saying you died in a Buc-ees
November 10, 2025 at 9:41 PM
In 10 weeks the Democrats can try again under better circumstances, assuming they have the nerve.
November 10, 2025 at 9:35 PM
Who the fuck is they?
November 10, 2025 at 9:31 PM
I understand that starving people can be a political strategy. For example the Holodomor under Stalin.
November 10, 2025 at 9:30 PM
January 30 will be an even better time. SNAP will be funded. Federal workers will be paid through the holidays. Everyone will know how much their ACA costs have increased. People will have completed their holiday travels.

Just gird up to try again then.
November 10, 2025 at 6:56 PM
I agree. After thinking about it, January 30 may be a better time. Dept of Ag is funded so SNAP will continue. Air travel is less busy and people’s holidays won’t have been disrupted. Federal workers will be paid through the Holidays. People using the ACA will have seen their costs increase.
November 10, 2025 at 6:41 PM
You won’t need a primary challenger. Kane won’t run. You need a good Democrat who can win.

But we’ve got to get through the next couple of years before thinking about 2028.
November 10, 2025 at 4:36 AM
I remain doubtful that the Republicans will pass such legislation
November 10, 2025 at 4:25 AM
Even if you are correct, it only took a year to turn around from 2024 and it’s still a year until the midterms. The next year will be tumultuous as Trump increases repressive measures and the resistance continues to respond. I don’t think it’s possible to know what will happen yet.
November 10, 2025 at 4:24 AM
I don’t know a way to get better voters, at least any time soon. The math is against us for at least another 14 months. There won’t be any victories at the federal level. It’s incredibly frustrating but right now all we can hope for is to lose more slowly.
