I sat down with Jordan Daniel Wood for an interview. At 6k words, this is a massive. But it is also well worth your time. Read until the end and you will find out why Jordan Daniel Wood doesn't think Thomism is the way.

From my latest on Dostoevsky and Euthanasia.
Dostoevsky explores the dynamic of freedom once the person assumes the license to wilful self-positing. There is a dark logic at play in his novels: When a society kills its God, it will also kill the man.
Dostoevsky and Euthanasia
The growing acceptance of euthanasia in the west would come as no surprise to Fyodor Dostoevsky.

This is an essential read-- an acute analysis of his own liberals and a good faith attempt to understand the opponents. An absolute must read.
“The major illiberal regimes worldwide today are ready & willing to use the soft & hard powers of the state to realize their visions of the good life. They are in the business of crafting souls, or soulcraft.”

My latest @mereorthodoxy.bsky.social this morning. I always wanted to write about the aftermath of the fall of the Soviet Union, the rise of religiosity and subsequent decline shortly after. It is a cautionary tale for us in the US as the vibe shift moves towards religious sentiments.

Beyond Neo-Calvinism? A Review of 'Beyond the Modern Age' Seven Years Later
Does the end of the long 20th century also inherently mean the decline of neo-Calvinism, a system of thought that has become so bound up with that world?
