Opinions are my own.
I only sort of follow football but I can appreciate a good game. But the complexity in rules of college football make it super interesting to follow and is a strong opinion of mine. Football as a game is awesome.

Achieving at least one of these in ‘26 seems very reasonable

Swim instead of bike when it’s cold out.

I’d really enjoyed being in the water as a child. I swam a bit in college. Being in the water with my son for baby swimming lessons made me realize how much in missed the sensation of being in a pool.

Get a ham radio technician’s license.

My dad has been telling me to do this for literal years. I also found out that my late maternal uncle had wanted to do this in India. Plus the math of RF is cool. Already signed up for an exam.

Find a Shotokan karate dojo to practice at.

I got a black belt in Kyokushin karate as a teenager. I still have all the muscle memory. It’d be cool to get into again.

I got a taste of it with this post which got 900+ likes. I got lots of follows from weirdos and a few strange quote posts. I ended up blocking lots of accounts, disabling replies, and disabling quote posts.
I donated $25 to the Python Software Foundation.

Did I do that to post about it social media? Yes. Did I also do it because I think that the Python programming language is awesome, and PSF and PyCon are awesome, and they need more funding? Also yes.

I’ve personally found the Cauchy sequence construction of the real numbers to be more intuitive.

I don’t have any kind of background in RF or electrical engineering, but I have been trained as a mathematician. So this is the way that my brain is most likely to understand it.

Computing the inverse transform of one of the sidebands, then defining the Hilbert transform along the way.

That 3:2 ratio sounds very nice to our ears. It’s a much simpler ratio than other intervals.

I've got to say, all the traffic here lately about AI (from anti-AI folks, anti-(anti-AI) folks, etc) has made me rethink my own opinions about AI. It is a complex topic to have opinions about.
