Protesters around the world are using the Straw Hat Pirate Jolly Roger as a symbol of freedom. We plan on doing a detailed report on this phenomenon in the coming weeks. In the meanwhile, here is an updating list of countries where the Jolly Roger has appeared:

Makes me think of a line from the Rifftrax for The Five Doctors.

"The Master reminds me of Bill Belichick, only LESS cartoonishly evil."

I started to get confused because at first I was thinking of the '77 film Night Terror, which predates Elm Street and isn't an anthology film.
It is a made-for-tv NBC film starting Valerie Harper and directed by the guy who directed the crappy 70s CBS Spider-Man series pilot.

I'm glad she is okay.. With George Carlin & Terry Pratchett dead, she and LeVar Burton are the 2 surviving members of my personal Holy Quaternity.

Fflewddur is also only in his 30s in the books, not apparently in his 50s like the film, and by anime-like hair, it is described as being wild yellow hair that is always sticking up in spikes.

Also, Fflewddur has, by the end of the 3rd book, a cat, Llyan, that was made giant by potions. She lets him use her as his mount, and she is practically a member of the party as well.

Also, the Witches of Morva aren't villains. They are All-Powerful Bystanders who are stealth mentors to the heroes and are gods in human form, stated to also have been the Fates from Greek mythology, the Norns from Norse mythology, the Triple Goddess from Celtic mythology, etc.

Other changes from the books:Eilonwy is a badass who is better with a sword than Taran for most of the books, Fflewddur is a handsome but unkempt guy with anime-like hair who is a good fighter, Gurgi is a human-sized not- sasquatch, almost every supporting other character is missing.

The Blade Runner sequel was really good, but he couldn't screw up playing a narcissist with a messiah complex since that doesn't even require him to act.

True, and adding Leto into the mix just makes that more readily apparent.

Putting Leto in any project is like taking the time to make a meal and then purposefully pouring a vial of E. coli all over it.

Same writers as Alone In The Dark 1(and Far Cry, and House Of The Dead 2. And the co-executive producers of most of Boll's shitty game-to-film adaptations), and now they are also in the director's chairs. They only directed one other notable film, 2007's also terrible Brotherhood of Blood.
vimesofthewatch.bsky.social
And yet the sequel is even worse, so much so that Boll didn't even direct it, only produced it. Alone In The Dark 1 is horribly, laughably bad, the kind of bad that can be potentially enjoyed, just not in the way the filmmakers intended. Alone In The Dark 2 is just a boring turd of a film.

Early reviews of Tron Ares indicate it may be exactly what I was afraid it might turn out to be:Painfully mediocre and then made far worse by Leto's presence and involvement.

From the Rifftrax of Max Havoc:Ring of Fire

As Dean Cain's character lies on the floor after getting his ass kicked,
Bill, in a "depressed" voice:"I'm nobody's favorite Superman."

Dean Cain still likes to play up how he played Superman, but with his support of ICE and Trump, he clearly is actually closer to his character in Max Havoc:Ring of Fire, an amoral villain who will shoot kids and try to burn an orphanage down with a nun & a older woman tied up inside it.

Drop something SKELETAL

Of course I'm going to go with Brook.

I just checked. They renewed the rights, with stated plans for a series of live action adaptations, back in 2016, apparently.

I would love to see film versions of the whole thing, with Taran and Eilonwy having the kind of romantic tension that manifests as constant sarcasm and friendly bickering and a world where magic is rarely useful for the good guys, often making them miserable instead.

Do a separate film for each of the 5 books, and it will undoubtedly work far better.
vimesofthewatch.bsky.social
Well, trying to turn a condensed version of the first 2 books in a 5 book(plus one anthology that serves as a prequel) cult classic High Fantasy series based on Welsh mythology into a single 82-minute film was almost certainly a mistake.

As long as they don't try to touch Discworld(Discworld and Disney would be a very, very bad fit), I'm cool with that.

Do they still have the rights to The Chronicles of Prydain?
