NES-compliant castle scene, made on the NAW editor by @nesrocks.bsky.social to take advantage of the 8x8 atributes supported by the amazing BB-Studio (a NES target game maker, fork of GB-studio) by @michel-iwaniec.bsky.social

Mario Paint on the SNES plugged to my kid TV. Lazy afternoons after school, 16 garish colors, a sprite canvas of 16x16, and a dozen or so blank sprite slots under that spec. I was basically fed pixels in the baby bottle.

Was it one of those NES mockups that look more like SNES? Nope, it was a simple voxel art treasure chest to show how marching-cubes rendering can smooth out voxel models to look like low-poly assets.

Hey pixelheads, thanks for all the follows (above 1K!) and welcome to a place of bluer skies. Let's build it ourselves, step by step. I am bringing over all my #NES #pixelart tilesets and mockups, and here is a WIP one fitting the theme, all done with the amazing NAW tool by @nesrocks.bsky.social

Twitter might come back anytime but I wont leave bluesky at all, and will bring all my #Pixelart and #NESdev stuff over here. Here is another isometric setup that pushes the limits of the common 16x16 color grid and uses the #NES NTSC dither artifacts for an interesting sand effect :)

and here is the raw voxels render to illustrate the data behind the smoothed rendered mesh

Isometric #pixelart scene in authentic #NES graphics. This was one of my first attempts to make it look beyond typical NES graphics while keeping it within the limitations. Everything here works with the common 16x16 color attribute grid, supported by all cartridges.

A Western themed #pixelart scene and #tileset in authentic #NES graphics, the first I did with NAW editor (nesrocks.itch.io/naw by the amazing Mario @nesrocks on Twitter) showcasing the fully working sprites feature (cacti). This can be readily exported as ROM.

I'll be posting the #pixelart I had on my media tab :) This is a comparison between my first #NES piece (common 16x16 attribute color grid) and the last #tileset update which works with advanced NES mappers (MMC5/Rainbow, 8x8 grid):

I make actually voxel-based models which are then smoothed and resolve into lowpoly assets, if that counts 😅

Grassy hills #pixelart tileset done within a 8x8 #NES compatible attribute grid (via a MMC5/rainbow type mapper)

Here's a mario scene in colder pastels, also done with my 24 colors, GBC inspired palette :)

I'll be reposting my old #pixelart, hopefully this place will soon feel more like a home for all of us :)

Hey Pixelheads! I am Vinik and I make pixelart, voxelart and lowpoly assets and color palettes! Also very into authentic art for NES, Gameboy and other beloved systems. Glad to join you all in Bluesky!
