My aunt (who can't cook but thinks she's Martha Stewart) likes to host and when I was a kid, we'd get there early to avoid traffic (around 11 am) and she had 0 snacks. We'd be starving until "dinner" and then get served dry turkey and "carrot souffle" which was neither carrot nor souffle. Nightmare.
