I like the slower pace for Starfleet Academy, it feels more like a character drama, there's no "end of the world" battle or "villain of the week" they have to defeat

And given it's set during a time when the Federation is rebuilding, it's nice to see them opening the doors for the future

Prodigy and Lower Decks were other major shifts, moving away from live-action to an animated medium, with drastically different appearances. Heck, LD was a comedy show, and Prodigy was [supposedly] aimed towards a younger demographic

I'm 2 episodes in, I'm enjoying the show. It's a different genre than what we're used to, but the same thing happened with Lower Decks

Arguably, it happened with TNG and DS9 too. TOS was exploratory, TNG shifted to more action based and DS9 shifted again to a more long-running plot format

SEGA has the opportunity to do the funniest thing and give us a certain echidna as a playable

Also give us a playable Dr. Starline

Tldr; spent 3.5 hours and money having no real fun and nothing to show for it. Won't be going back until they have at least OTS packs :/

Given it flopped, it ends on a mid-credit tease to a sequel that's never coming

Some of the ideas were cool and I loved them "printing" with the particle lasers [even if the science is never explained], complete with the chaff material like you'd get on a regular 3D print
