Might i suggest you make the hands, feet, and legs into islands using seams, and just do a normal unwrap of the torso. This is how a few devs do their unwrapping, you can also make a secondary uv map specifically for the head to up your details there

I know im a little late but cylinder projection will ignore your seams, but it will only do what you have selected, if you only select your body and not the arms it will do what you want, just remember to do a second unwrap specifically for your arms after too

Tbf a big reason is that the lgbtq community is a umbrella, it covers a lot of variables
