dad. screenwriter. used to play a lot of street hockey.
Trying to not pay attention to American politics from Canada, is like trying to not look at the guy next to you juggling knives with his eyes closed, knowing you’re the one who’s going to get hit in the face….

2025 trying real hard to break us already.

Fuck that.

This place isn’t popping until screenwriters have argued over 1v2 spaces on the platform.

We all have things seen need to hold on to and things we need to let go of.

You know what those things are, just let them go.

Why are we racing to integrate AI into PC’s and laptops? Who’s out here asking for it?

The PC community in particular are very much about customization and personal control over all features. I think banking on them wanting to hand over control of programs to AI is a misstep.

Maybe I’m wrong.

You gotta just keep writing good shit. Because even if you do, it doesn’t guarantee you’ll get your break.

Keep writing.

DON’T BE A DICK.

I’m pretty sure he stole those shoes from the golden Elvis in Niagara Falls…

For me, the TYPING part of screenwriting is like the rest between sets of a workout. It’s why I always look stressed when I’m not at the keyboard. That’s the heavy lifting.

When I’m typing I’ve broken through something and enjoying myself.

My theory for why writers like to be alone isn’t because we actually need the space to write, but we are paranoid that we will be judged for how often “writing” looks like we are just chillin.

Does simply opening FADEIN count as writing?

every part of my brain hurts, which must mean this draft is going well.

I might just have to mute “Trump” and “Biden” from my social media for the next year. I have a lot of shit to get done.

Here’s to a new year. Get it done. Don’t wait.

Find out how Friends ends.

Anyone got a good list of film folk that have jumped over here to follow?
December 4, 2023 at 3:32 PM
Film fact : sometimes when we look like we are doing nothing, we are busy as fuck.

And others when we are running around frantically we are actually just filling empty time.

It’s a strange world we operate in.

The war on Christmas already started? Shit, I forgot to enlist this year…

Everyday I vow to eat better, the production office brings in pastries and there’s Mexican food on the lunch menu…

Tomorrow.

Write like nobody’s watching! …

…because nobody is.

At all.

You gotta write something that makes them wanna look.

When the end is within reach, it feels so easy to stop. It’s a wild corruption of willpower that feels so innately human.

People forget that we age out of target demos for some projects…
November 15, 2023 at 3:24 PM
If film is nothing but fun, why do we all end up learning how to use excel?!
November 14, 2023 at 3:07 PM
I dream to one day write and direct a film so down right crowd pleasing and critically received that WarnerBrothers shelves it.
November 9, 2023 at 11:28 PM
Writing is just typing, in the same way that playing NHL level hockey is just skating.

There are ways in which AI can make elements of all our lives and jobs EASIER. Which is great — BUT without protection (unions) there will always be those who want to replace us with the tools we use rather than pay us fairly to use them.
