Yeah that is a ridiculous rule. My old place of work also wanted us to try and find subs for ourselves but it didn’t stick. Another place you had to call right at opening and they would call you back letting you know if they had enough staff for you to stay home. I was very firm and told them no.

Jebus. I need sleep. “Their business” and “sick day”.

Before Covid I asked permission to have a sick day when I called in. After Covid, I tell them I’m not coming in and they don’t fucking need to know why. It’s personal and none of this business. I shouldn’t have to jump through hoops just for a suck day.

I grew up with this in Quebec and found it so weird they didn’t have it here.
