You tell me one positive outcome from that approach.

Heading home with lots of inspiration, useful research material for my next book, and even a wedding dress (not mine!). Now I just need to write the book!

This week's work with MHHK included finishing up the map of the 1920s and starting a new one on the 1840s as I continue to build out the starter kit. This has meant working with Adolphe Dubois de Jancigny's fantastic 1842 survey, which provides a very different profile of Hong Kong's shoreline.

Had so much fun talking to Met Police History Society ytd! I spoke about my new project on a HK-born Eurasian who grew up in Cornwall in 1900s & somehow got deported from UK for suspected 'brothel keeping' in 1937, focusing on the interactions she & her police father had with both sides of the law.
