I had an almost immaculate 30 year old GME GX558A VHF radio in for repair.
The DC input protection Zener Diode had failed short circuit. Likely due to an overvoltage situation.
The GX558A was the only VHF Marine transceiver that had built-in OTC Auto Seaphone, radio phone calls from your boat!
