I am so sorry for raising hopes only to let them down, & I'm sorry it's taken me this long to be honest with myself, & with you all, & finally call it. I hope to someday return to the project, in a time when my energy and capacity are both improved, & maybe not by myself.

I did not expect how much energy I would have to put elsewhere in my day to day. Multiple times I tried to turn back to VMQ and make progress, and ultimately it's just proven too big a project for my current bandwidth levels.

I started the idea in a wave of inspiration & excitement about a year ago, champing at the bit. I had expected that an anticipated cross-country move in the fall would mean a slowdown on productivity. I did not expect exactly what life would look like after the move.

Repost this far & wide & make sure your artist friends know about us, we are open for submissions through the end of the year and we need em! Keep em coming! We love you!

Also we would go inSANE for interviews & product reviews & process documentation, absolutely rabid, please, PLEASE!

If it's hyper focusing on details of creative process for writing that isn't art, WE WANT IT!

Why do you salivate for that brand of colored pencil? Why do you only paint at that time of day? What is it about THAT yarn? We want the nitty gritty! We want the obsession! Please! Send it to us!

We understand that this can be a tricky subject, and so ask for patience and grace as we try to put a more sophisticated policy in place. Some input from y'all is welcome, to a point, just please understand that we're always going to side with the living, breathing artists.

We are also putting together an email for those contributors we have already accepted for Issues One and Two before putting that requirement in the submission form; that will be going out in the next week or so, asking how much, if any, AI content was in their submissions.

We acknowledge that AI can have some usefulness with things like ChatGPT. However, in the visual art world, the harm done to living breathing creators is too vast, & the tools too ill-regulated, for us to allow inclusion of anything created using the likes of Midjourney, etc.

They say Issue Two at the top, but if you are submitting work about writing it will be only considered for Issue One. Feel free to submit work on anything else for Issue Two as well!!
