I personally would love for him to be an 'unapologetically evil villain' as an ARR Lahabrea fan myself, but even with Lahabrea, it's fun to acknowledge that their backgrounds are still heart-breaking.
But anyway, I didn't even mention Calyx having major trust issues, but that's for another day 😳

Calyx is single-minded because he was always living in fear of death. Death has always been the only thing on his mind. Now as an endless, he pursued his duty for over 400 years to overcome or even evolve beyond death because it's all he's ever known. He's never truly been able to live. It's sad.

A child, born with a sickness that would kill him so early on in life, never even reaching adulthood. A sickness that would confine him to a bed, or require a lot of medication and equipment to maintain during those years of life. How isolating it must've been.

i dont tweet much about ffxiv but this is driving me nuts.

calling the locker scene homophobic or "bad gay rep" doesnt make sense when its clearly not meant to be romantic. that man was a fanatic and treated calyx as an idol. calyx could have been anything or anyone.

People think Calyx is silly for summoning a primal to fight a primal killer, but that was the intention. He needed us to kill it, over and over, an endless fight that would drain the land of its aether, and drain the hero of their strength, until their flesh betrays them and they fall
