As opposed to Putin, who is a newcomer to the scene of Russian politics, of course.

Ultimately, the EU didn't start this. The US decided to attack it's economic allies, regardless of real market conditions. So I don't think this is betrayal, rather it's a response to one. I think a fair cost for the Chinese would be to lessen support for Russia and stop undermining EU industry.

Are you sure? Tesla sales are significantly down, but these 94% sound more like the results of a receny survey asking Germans if they would consider buying a Resla, to which 94% answered 'No'. These wouldn't be sales, just how much of the population doesn't intend to buy one.

Respectfully, trying to create a fighter to rival the F35 now is way too late. European aerospace industries should focus on Tempest and FCAS and suck it up with the already ordered F35s and 4.5 gen fighters like Gripen or Rafale. Maybe try to negotiate European avionics manufacturing for the F35s.

That's great, but maybe Meloni should be taking some more concrete steps. Italy is underinvesting in its military, aid to Ukraine is comparably low, no peace troops have been committed. Why should all of NATO expand article 5 protections at Italy's behest when it's materially unable to fully commit?

I'd like to question how transactional it even is. Russia does basically nothing and gets favored. Europe takes on more but is left out to dry. Zelensky offers a mineral deal for more US support, Trump thinks he should have it without giving anything and Ukraine should say "Thank you Trump!" for it.

The Greens are more or less pro-Ukraine, pro-EU hawks, they're doing this due to the CDU and SPD wanting to smuggle in some things unrelated to defense and infrastructure.

This is nice and all but it's not a productive proposition. The US won't support this and Europe isn't currently in a position to casually deal out this type of protection like that. I'd prefer Meloni spend less time on fantasies and more time making a meaningful contribution to European security.

I'd say we should collectively try to amend the deal to have the avionics manufactured in Europe, like Britain already apparently does (and Israel). I think it's at least useful to have a 5th Gen jet on hand while we're waiting on European 6th gen. I just wouldn't like to see more F35 orders.

"[...] greedlily sending money and weapons to Ukraine"

Ah yes, like you and I greedily donate to charity. Giving to others is the highest form of selfishness.

Hey Freya on the off chance you see this I really liked your AI video! The point of being stupidly, even illogically optimistic is something that really connected with me, as this is how I've also been feeling these past months. Please power on & never stop educating us about lerp smoothing and such

I quite like the sound design, it's oddly satisfying and definitely matches the visuals.

Just stumbled across this, I assume this project is leaning into pre-release minecraft's somewhat unnerving low graphics settings for inspiration?

I feel this is mixing up democratic socialism with social democracy quite a bit.
