How does TIME rectify an agent having 25 years of experience before leaving in an organization that has not existed a full 23 years yet? They don't seem to interrogate this claim at all. It makes the article seem poorly researched, even if they just misworded the sentence.

That... doesn't look like AI? It looks like a shitty matte set. Getting an AI to match a painted background set would be fairly difficult. Throwing it together in PS sure, 10 minutes tops, but AI is not well-trained to "make a bad matte backdrop of a fake whiskey-themed room for a CBS News show".

Is this the first LLM-ran war? Like sure it played and continues to do so in Ukraine, but I don't know of previous wars that were just "Grok what do I say I bombed Venezuela for? Grok who do I say is in charge now? Grok what is Fentanyl?"

Just awful. I hope there's more details, be it burglary or personal grudge or otherwise. At home makes the likelihood for a targeted attack based on his career far less likely IMO, Professors don't exactly keep their address top secret from their dept, but it shouldn't be posted publicly at least.

Being very generous, I'd maybe give someone the benefit of the doubt for an "accidental" Nazi tattoo before covering it like 2 weeks. You show off the first 3 days, someone tells you, look it up, realize the fuckup, triple-check a safe design to cover it / removal, book the artist. 18 yrs is crazy.

There are both official and unofficial guidelines on how to handle retractions that, at some point in time, media which claims to do journalism would at least _attempt_ to pretend they follow publicationethics.org/guidance/gui...
Retraction guidelines
Essential guidance for editors on when and how to retract articles, including the content of retraction notices, timing, and handling inconclusive evidence. Version 3 released in 2025!
