Protecting our homes and neighborhoods starts with strong infrastructure. That’s why I testified before the Approps Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity, asking for support to repair the Lake Lansing Dam. Fixing it now will prevent flooding and protect our community for years to come.

@mihousedems.bsky.social helped moved the state one step closer to avoiding a shutdown and securing investments that are good for people and our state. I will continue working for an on-time budget that delivers for all Michiganders.

House Republicans passed HB 4160, which would effectively stop the state from adopting policies that are stricter than federal regulations. This is a blatant attempt to stop any regulations that Republicans do not agree with, even if they are legally implemented.

Shanah Tovah! Wishing all who celebrate a happy and healthy New Year!!

I joined my colleagues to introduce a Tenant Package that will make landlord-tenant laws more fair and enforceable. My bill HB4983 will extend the redemption period that a tenant can comply with a court judgment from 7 days to 14 days giving tenants breathing room when dealing with court proceedings

Congratulations to our September Business of the Month, White Bros. Music in Bath! This year marks their 50th anniversary, and I was honored to recognize their achievement with a Legislative Tribute and our September Business of the Month award!

Yesterday, I spoke out against HB4515. Despite costing the state millions, the legislation would have almost zero impact on actual Bridge card fraud. Instead, it will create unnecessary burdens for those struggling to make ends meet during a time where costs for essential goods continue to rise.

Congratulations to our September Teacher of the Month, Ms. Kristine Megge from Murphy Elementary in Haslett! It was great to be able to stop by her classroom, meet her amazing students, and present her with our September Teacher of the Month award!

Today, we remember the lives lost on 9/11 and honor the bravery of all first responders who run toward danger. I was honored to be able to invite James Ladiski, Deputy Chief of the ELFD, to join me during the House’s 9/11 remembrance ceremony, to honor and thank our state’s first responders.

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend last night’s East Lansing City Council meeting to present a tribute to Cathy DeShambo upon her retirement as the Director of the Parks, Recreation, and Arts Department. I was honored to thank her for her dedication and I wish her the best in her retirement!

The release of a 50th Birthday celebration book for Epstein that contains what appears to be a personalized message from Donald Trump feels like as good of a time as any to remind everyone that 24 of my Dem colleagues and I signed on to a letter to demand the public release of all the Epstein files.

House Republicans want to slash critical funding to Medicaid, food assistance, schools, and environmental protections. @mihousedems.bsky.social are fighting for a budget that lowers costs. Republicans want to call this a win, but their plan will only hurt Michigan families.

Thank you, Michigan AFL-CIO, for naming me your 2025 Legislator of the Year! I will work every day to live up to this immense honor. I look forward to the work ahead and the many things we can continue to accomplish together on behalf of Michigan workers.

Republican’s budget proposal would slash millions of dollars to EGLE, impacting hundreds of positions. These jobs are essential to protect our water quality, and ensure our environment is protected. This would also impact PFAS regulations, allowing PFAS to go unchecked in our communities.

Republicans say they cut waste from the budget. Not only did they not cut waste, they actually added waste into our water system by cutting $200 million from EGLE, $20 million for clean water and they weakened PFAS contamination standards.

Republican House Leadership wants to slash funding to necessary programs from food assistance to maternal and infant health, to public safety. This will cut critical funding that Michiganders rely on and does not reflect my values and the values of our communities.

Congrats to our August business of the month, Kymora Kandles! Lindsay has been delivering amazing candles since 2010, but opened her store in downtown St. John's in 2020, and now offers a variety of candles, Michigan-shaped air fresheners, and other gifts that are perfect for birthdays or holidays!

With less than an hour to review the 800 page budget proposal, Republicans are focused on pushing through a radical political agenda, while cutting funding for schools, healthcare and veterans. That isn't transparency, or good government. That's just politics, and Michiganders are tired of it.
