I'm Wil Gregersen. I'm a librarian, and I'm running for governor of Rhode Island.

• generate more revenue
• create an emergency reserve
• lower energy prices
• keep the power on
• stop climate change from becoming costlier

We desperately need our legislators to stop dawdling, do more than talk, and start fixing Rhode Island’s problems.

That’s why we need to elect New Democrats who have the passion and drive to fix things, including our General Assembly. 3/3

3) Institute four-year terms for the legislature;
4)  Have term limits of two (four-year) terms;
5) Give the governor a line item veto authority; and
6) Earmark all revenues generated by increases in taxes or fees to investment-oriented uses. 2/3

This is standard operating procedure for our part-time General Assembly.

This time, that strategy will lead to disaster. 2/2

In 1904, Edgar Mahew Bacon wrote, “As for little Rhode Island, her manifest destiny was to do things, not to talk or write about them. She had acquired a taste for independence that by the time the struggle with Britain was imminent had become a controlling habit. 4/5

They say they’re unable to act because they’re in the minority. I say, don’t ask permission. Summon up the courage of our forebears. Be bold. Be audacious. Fight like our freedom will be lost without fighting—because it will. Or step down and let people who know how to fight take over. 3/5

In the 21st century, Rhode Island celebrates those plucky and roguish men while ironically being represented in our nation’s capitol by four halfhearted gentlemen who have little will to resist and no Revolutionary spirit. 2/5

But our longest serving senator doesn’t seem to have picked up on those lessons and is, instead, waiting for the courts to act and Republicans to change as disasters pile up. For the sake of Rhode Island and our country, we need a better senator than this. 2/2
